Townie to...Not-So-Towney

After a nice breakfast of passionfruit yogurt, granola, raisins, a boatload of fruit and a lemon mini-muffin, I watched Eat, Pray, Love in my room while resting my sore throat. I went to the top of a beautiful but extremely-windy Mt. Eden last night (and forgot my camera, of course), but I'm tired from traipsing all over town yesterday, taking the wrong train 3--yes, THREE--times, and carting around goodies. So though it's Saturday, though England plays France in the Rugby WOrld Cup quarter finals tonight, I'm taking a me-day. I'm at a cafe, drinking Peppermint Tea, and wearing a scarf for a skirt (got it yesterday for $5!) and my new lightweight cardigan I got yesterday to make up for my lack of weather-appropriate clothing. A lightweight cardigan doesn't quite suffice these biting nights and overcast-breezy days, but what do you do. I live in Tonga.
I walked through a couple of streets yesterday in downtown and got extremely depressed by all the obnoxious rich-touristy stores and advertisements. Tomorrow will be for discovering the artsy parts of town, and hopefully I can figure out some sight-seeing thing to do Monday before my appointment on Tuesday.
But I'm well-equipped with chocolate, plums and strawberries (well, I'm eating those), and some NZ goodness.
It's wonderful to be in Clean Life, where I'm so amused at how slowly I now walk. Tiny Asian legs half the length of mine blast past my aimlessly-wondering pace; I walked through a supermarket parking lot with nervousness; I lovingly stared into the produce section of said supermarket (where I bought plums and strawberries); I had sushi with real sushi things inside (not spongecake); my hair is lovin' this no-humidity thing and is actually smooth and, dare I say it?, soft. I blow-dried my bangs yesterday and nearly shat myself with the surprising ease of it all.
Though I don't think I'll be sad to go back. I miss smiles exchanged between people on the street, and I miss my friends. And being a townie again...
Oh lord, I'm a sap! (And delusional.)
